New 2017 Toyota 86 Coupe at Lustine Toyota for Woodbridge, VA
The predecessor Scion FR-S becomes the new 2017 Toyota 86 coupe in its new form as it has been selling in alternate global markets, as Scion migrates back into Toyota officially. The vehicle (formerly known as the Scion FR-S) is now the Toyota 86 and is here to keep the brand's sports-car reputation intact. The 2.0-liter boxer-type four-cylinder engine makes 205 horsepower when paired to a fluid 6-speed manual. Rear-wheel drive and a balanced chassis offer excellent driving fun, to put it lightly. When purring by at a leisurely pace, the notable and fast styling will turn heads. A new face differentiates Toyota's new rear-wheel drive coupe from its Scion beginnings, and a wider, lower intake grille seamlessly merges with LED headlights, all within quieter lines of a new fascia. LED taillights are also on the back and new 10-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels are found in the same Michelin Primacy HP grand-touring summer tires (215/45) as fans know and love. That's just for starters, as this race-car-influenced coupe is just getting started!
Under the 86 Coupe's Hood
Toyota 86 models with the standard 6-speed manual transmission The aluminum 2.0-L boxer engine provides a hefty 205 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and gets 156 lb. ft. of torque at 6,400 rpm, while the automatic transmission version sees 200-hp at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb. ft. of torque, also at 6,400 rpm. Manual versions see extra accents, like intake/exhaust filtering, less valve train friction, and robust pistons and crankshaft bearings. There are strengthened mounting points for the transmission, the strut-tower brace, and the rear dampers. All of which contributes essentially to a sport-tuned ride, and a whole lot of fun out there on the streets!
Design of Toyota 86 Coupe
The 86 has a standard 8-speaker Pioneer sound system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen. The 86 coupe incorporates tough styling with a bigger center intake that showcases the low stance of the car. The front gains a new high-tech design with a new fog lamp bezel, standard LED front headlamps, and turn signals, daylight running lights, and a refreshed bumper. The rear end has LED tail lamps and more sculpted bumper design with an integrated aerodynamic diffuser. The alloy wheels have a twisted spoke design that is new this year and nostalgic "86" logos appear as a badge on the front fender, and additionally inside the front headlamps. A newer material that Toyota has dubbed "Granlux" attains a velvety feel to the instrument gauge cluster surround and also to the door trim. There is a revamped steering wheel with mounted sound controls as well as another "86" logo in the center hub. The Toyota 86 comes standard with Display Audio (optional Navigation) which has a 7-inch touchscreen display that connects with the rearview camera, Bluetooth for hands-free phone capability and music streaming, iPod connectivity, both Aux & USB inputs, and HD Radio.
