Under the Corolla's Hood
The Corolla has two versions of the same engine available. The engine is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and it is the base engine, but the LE Eco gets a more sophisticated valvetrain to maximize the fuel economy. The base engine is rated at 128 pound-feet of torque and 132 horsepower and the Eco is rated at 126 pound-feet of torque and 140 horsepower. Both engine versions come standard with a continuously variable transmission. There is also an option for six-speed manual transmission. The manual transmission gets 30 mpg combined with 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. The CVT with 16-inch wheels get 32 mpg combined with 28 in the city and 36 on the highway, but when it has bigger wheels at 17-inches it gets 31 mpg combined with the same city mpg and 35 mpg on the highway. The Eco's fuel economy with 15-inch wheels get 34 mpg combined with 30 in the city and 40 on the highway and the 16-inch wheels get 33 mpg combined with 29 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

There are seven trim levels available for the 2017 Toyota Corolla: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, SE 50th Anniversary edition, and XSE trim levels. The base model gets bi-LED headlights, LED running lights, air-conditioning, power mirrors, power doors, power locks, adaptive cruise control, 60/40-split folding rear seat, a six-way adjustable drive seat, four-way front passenger seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and a six-speaker Entune audio system with a 6.1-inch touchscreen. There is an SE 50th Anniversary edition that gets anniversary badging, 17-inch gray-painted wheels, upgraded gray-painted upholstery, and trim with Black Cherry contrast stitching. There are a few packages that can be added. The LE and LE Eco models have the Premium package that includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Entune Audio Plus, and bumper-integrated LED running lights. The SE CVT gets a Premium package that includes the Entune Audio Plus and a sunroof. The XLE and XSE get a Premium package with Entune Premium Audio with a navigation system and the Entune App Suite.
