The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup with an intense focus on off-road performance. It offers Toyota's reputation for reliability and high resale value, while making its case as a superior truck with standard V8-engine power and its unique TRD Pro model that's built for going off-road. In addition to that, the crew-cab and extended-cab configurations give the Tundra give ample room for passengers in the front and rear. If you need a truck capable of towing 10,500 and hauling a ton of cargo, the Toyota Tundra will easily provide. The lineup is also diverse, with trucks that range from basic brute to plush to off-road ready.

Under the Tundra's Hood

The 2017 Toyota Tundra can be equipped with one of two V8 engines, both of which are lined with a six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive is available, though, and it comes with a two-speed transfer case. The first engine is a 4.6 liter V8 that can provide the Tundra with 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque. It's standard on the SR extended-cab and every SR5 trim. Fuel economy is 16 miles per gallon combined for both four-wheel and rear-wheel drive. Alternatively, there's a 5.7-liter V8 that has an output of 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. This engine is standard for the regular cab and any configuration of the Limited, Platinum, 1794, and TRD Pro models. It can also be had in SR5 models. Fuel economy for this engine is 15 miles per gallon combined for rear- and four-wheel drive. Tundras with this engine also come with a standard tow package that tops out at 10,500 pounds.

Design of Toyota Tundra

The Tundra is a full-size pickup with three cab styles, two wheelbases, and three bed lengths. For cab styles, there are regular, extended double, and CrewMax crew cabs. The regular cab can hold three passengers, while the extended and crew cabs can seat five if you choose bucket seats or six if you choose a front bench seat. The bed lengths are 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8.1-foot. Depending on your configuration, there are six trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Pro, Limited, Platinum, and a 1794 Edition. Basic equipment in the SR includes cruise control, a tilting steering wheel, a windshield wiper de-icer, daytime running lights, full power accessories, a 40/20/40-split bench seat, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a rearview camera. You'll also get a 6.1-inch Entune touchscreen interface that's paired with a six-speaker sound system.
