Looking for American Made? Buy Toyota

2012 Toyota Camry XLE

To car shoppers who cherish the "Made in USA" tag, it might come as a surprise that many of the foreign manufacturers produce their cars in the U.S. using American workers. New data from the federal government's annual U.S. /Canadian parts-content figures shows that the 2012 Toyota Camry may be the most "American made" vehicle on the market.

For even more confirmation, Toyota announced that 92% of the parts on the 2012 Camry will be sourced from North America, making it the most "American" car on the market.

Even better for the American economy is that most of the Camry cars will be built in either the Kentucky or Lafayette plants putting more Americans to work.

Toyota is continually trying to improve on the number of American parts used. Old versions of the Camry had 80% American made parts which, at the time, was just 1 percentage point behind the Chrysler 200.
