Under the Tacoma's Hood

The entry-level engine is a 2.7-liter DOHC four-cylinder. It produces 180 pound-feet of torque and 159 horsepower. It has a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with intelligence or the option for a manual transmission. The other engine option is a 3.5-liter V6 that is powered by 265 pound-feet of torque and 278 horsepower. It utilizes Toyota's D-4S injection system that incorporates the direct injection and port fuel injection. When the V6 adds the tow package it can pull up to 6,800 pounds.

Design of Toyota Tacoma

There are six trim levels for the Toyota Tacoma. The trims are SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The SR includes 16-inch steel wheels, sliding rear window, backup camera, Bluetooth, cruise control, remote keyless entry, a tough composite bed, a movable cleat tie-down system, and even a built-in GoPro camera mount on the upper windshield. SR5 gets a lot of those features plus chrome rear bumpers, fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 4.2-inch info screen, and the Entune audio system. The TRD Sport has the same cab and bed configuration as the SR5, 17-inch wheels, turn signal mirrors, a hood scoop, 40-watt power outlet, sliding rear window, and the Entune premium audio system's 7-inch touchscreen. The TRD Off-Road gets all the off-road features. It has all-terrain tires on the 16-inch alloy wheels, extra skid plates, deletion of the front air dam, Bilstein monotube shocks, a lockable rear differential, and an advanced off-road traction control system. The Limited offers with the V6 engine, body-color flares, body-color rear bumper, 18-inch wheels, and the option to add the extra packages. The TRD Pro has black grille, black head and tail lights, black fender flares, LED fog lights, 16-inch tires, and some many add on options.

What are the cab sizes available?

There are two cab models: the Access Cab and the Double Cab. The Access Cab models have a 127.4-inch wheelbase and have a 73.7-inch-long bed. The Double Cab is offered in two versions: the 127.4-inch wheelbase with a 60.5-inch bed or 140.6-inch wheelbase with the 73.7-inch bed.

The Tacoma comes standard with active headrests for the front seats. They move up and forward in the case of a severe rear-end collision.
