2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road Model Revealed

If you've ever wanted the Toyota RAV4 to become an off-roading king, then today is your day. The all-new RAV4 was launched many months previous to the announcement of the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road model. This model is going to be arriving in the fall, and it's going to offer a special assortment of design features and TRD engineering. The RAV4 created its own segment 22 years ago, has become the best-selling non-pickup truck in the entire United States, and now Toyota is giving you a RAV4 model that is truly going to make everyone turn their heads and stare. If you're looking to learn more about what makes the 2020 RAV4 TRD Off-Road model so impressive, keep reading as we go through the different features!

What kind of power and utility is created with this RAV4?

Standard in this SUV is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can pump out up to 203 horsepower. Paired with this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission, which further enhances the fuel efficiency. Along with this powertrain, you can choose between three different modes: Sport, Normal, and Eco. You can even tow up to 3,500 pounds! All-wheel drive is also standard, and it comes with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. DTV means that this system can direct around 50 percent of the torque to the rear wheels, and even distribute torque specifically to the left or right rear wheel. This enhances handling whenever you're on or off the pavement. If all-wheel drive isn't necessary, like with highway driving, Rear Driveline Disconnect helps to optimize fuel economy. If you have ventured off the road, and needed added traction, you can use Multi-Terrain Select. This means you can choose Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, and Snow, for the conditions that seem to fit each one best. Other features include downhill assist control, trailer sway control, and hill start assist control.

What other features make this RAV4 special?

Toyota has a rich off-roading racing history, which is where much of the RAV4 TRD Off-Road model takes its inspiration from. This includes the fog light surrounds, grille designs, an aggressive bumper, large over-fenders, and high-rise roof rails. There was also specific attention given to enhance the body control, and to help on trails and city streets that aren't that smooth. For off-roading, the unique red coil springs are perfect, with twin-tube shocks helping to improve the overall rebound control. Even the tires have been looked out, with this model getting Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail all-terrain tires, and matte black TR alloy wheels. This combination includes a unique tread pattern. The inside of this SUV hasn't been forgotten, as you'll find red stitching and red trim accents throughout the cabin, "TRD" stitched into the front headrests, and all-weather floor mats that are exclusive to the TRD.

Can you tell me about Toyota Safety Sense 2.0?

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is going to come standard with this model. You'll get driver assistant technologies like road sign assist, lane tracing assist, automatic high beam, lane departure alert with steering assist, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Outside of this safety suite you'll be getting rear cross traffic braking, rear cross traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
