What Engine comes with the 2020 Avalon?

All versions of the 2020 Avalon come with a powerful and fuel-efficient 3.5-liter V6 with 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, which connects to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Most trims get you 31 mpg with combined city and highway driving, while the XLE model has 32 mpg combined. Each model runs smoothly on 87-octane unleaded gasoline. Each trim of the Avalon comes with front-wheel drive.

What are notable features on the 2020 Avalon?

Five trims are available for the 2020 Toyota Avalon, and each comes with a multitude of features. The base XLE offers you LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, simulated leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Tech features for the XLE are fantastic and include Toyota's Safety Connect emergency communications and a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa integration and an eight-speaker audio system. The Limited adds to this with a sunroof, leather upholstery, a head-up display, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a built-in navigation system. With the sporty XSE trim comes 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, black exterior treatments, a rear spoiler, a sport-tuned suspension, and microsuede seat inserts. All-new this year is the TRD trim, which adds black-painted aerodynamic elements, beefier brakes, matte black wheels, a sport exhaust, and red seat belts and stitching. The top of trim is the Touring, and it comes complete with all of the features from the Limited and the XSE along with adaptive suspension and active noise cancellation. The interior is aligned with simulated leather.

What are some of the safety features?

Safety is paramount to Toyota, which is why the Avalon comes with a ton of innovative safety features through Toyota's Safety Sense System. Kicking things off is a Pre-Collision with Pedestrian Detection, which is designed to keep you safe on the road by detecting vehicles and pedestrians that cross your path. The system combines radar with a camera capable of shape recognition while at the same time providing you with visual and audio cues, which will warn you of a possible collision. If you fail to act, the system will automatically engage the brakes. Also included is Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, which is design to prevent you from drifting in your lane with visual lane markings. If the system detects that you are drifting, it will automatically make small corrective steering inputs to help you get back into the lane. Finally, Automatic High Beams help you see more clearly at night thanks to a built-in camera that detects the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the taillights of cars behind you. The system uses this information to toggle between high beams and low beams.
