2020 Toyota Camry vs 2020 Chevrolet Malibu

With the sheer amount of sedans on the market, it can be challenging to know which one is the best for you. Allow us to make things a little easier as we take a look at the 2020 Toyota Camry and the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. Both of these sedans have potent engines and a ton of features, but only one can be left standing at the end of the day. Take a trip with us as we break down both these sedans and declare a winner!

2020 Toyota Camry Power & Handling

The majority of the trims of the 2020 Camry come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The horsepower and torque can be upped with the XSE trim. Optional for the XSE and the XLE is a 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out an impressive 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. Each version of the Camry comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can opt for four-wheel drive on the LE and above. The 2020 Camry is among the most fuel-efficient sedans on the market as it gets up to 32 miles per gallon.

2020 Chevrolet Malibu Power & Handling

All versions of the Malibu, except for the Premier, come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that provides 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, which connects to a continuously variable automatic transmission. At 160 horsepower, the Camry feels a tad underpowered, especially when you compare it to the Camry. The Premier is a bit better as it comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that comes with 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is the only setup with the Malibu.

2020 Toyota Camry Features & Design

A whopping six trim levels are available for the 2020 Camry, and each comes with an impressive amount of features. The base L comes with 16-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The L, just like every trim of the Camry, comes with Toyota Safety Sense, which has all the latest safety systems. Up next is the LE, which adds a power-adjustable driver's seat, alloy wheels, and two charge-only USB ports. If you're looking for something more sporty, check out the SE as it comes with sporty exterior trim, a sport-tuned suspension, revised steering calibration, automatic climate control, simulated-leather upholstery seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. There is also a Nightshade package that comes with black-painted exterior trim. There are a few optional packages available for the LE and SE. A Convenience package has more comfort and convenience items, while the Audio Upgrade package comes with leather upholstery, a larger driver information display, heated front seats, and a more advanced adaptive cruise control system. Those who choose all-wheel drive also get the Cold Weather Group, which has heated seats and mirrors. Last up is the TRD trim, which rounds out the features list with 19-inch black-painted wheels, an aerodynamic body kit, upgraded brakes, a TRD-tuned suspension, and extra chassis bracing, and keyless entry and ignition. Also coming standard is a more advanced cruise control system, and driver-selectable driving modes.

2020 Chevrolet Malibu Features & Design

Five trim levels are available for the Chevrolet Malibu, and there are some interesting features on each. Starting things out is the L trim, which comes with air conditioning, steering wheel controls, keyless entry and ignition, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The LS adds to this list with more creature comforts such as noise-reducing glass and OnStar, while the RS gets more convenience features such as power-adjustable seats and style accessories such as a rear spoiler and unique grille. The LT comes with satellite radio, front-seat heating, and dual-zone climate control with a vent for rear-seat passengers. Last up is the Premier, which gets the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine as well as built-in navigation, a nine-speaker audio system, leather seating, and a sunroof, among other features. Most safety features for the Malibu are available as options, including forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning.

Conclusion:

While both of these sedans certainly have their high points, in the end, we are going to give the victory to the 2020 Toyota Camry. The engines provide you with more horsepower and torque, and the six trim levels provide you with many more features than the Malibu.
